Hi, I’m Alex, a documentary photographer. My passion for photography started in 2004 with a Christmas present – a digital camera with 2,1 Megapixel. After beginning in press photography in 2006 by taking pictures for a regional newspaper, I gradually became committed to picturize news events and the stories behind the news. Originally from Frankfurt (Oder), my work reflects my interest in society, the outcomes of policy regulations in economic, cultural and social life. Therefore, photography allows me to deepen into and research the daily life of communities and people that are effected by changing circumstances and not particularly well exposed. I had the privilege of having special training at Ostkreuz School for Photography (OKS) in Berlin-Weißensee and scientific studies in Darmstadt, Dresden and Bamberg, through which I specialized in political field analysis (M.A.). Two internships – one with a foreign correspondent in Madrid, Walter Haubrich (†), and the other with photo designer Gerhard Hagen in Bamberg – complete my profile. In addition to the work as a documentary photographer, I gained experience as a photo editor at an educational publishing company. Furthermore, I collaborate with theatrical drama groups. I am a long-distance runner, member of the German Association of Journalists (DJV), and represented by the picture agencies VISUM (Asbach), imago (Berlin). On top of that I am also distributed by Redux Pictures (New York).
